is that time of the year again, i love when these flowers come up in the garden. happy spring everyone!

in a few weeks we will be trying new things and will be far away from this land for a while. i can’t quite believe that this moment is here and i’m quite missing this place already.
i have had a funny relationship with this island since I arrived, a very young version of me struggled understanding a whole new culture, a whole new humour and a whole new world, yet it wasn’t even 3 months after the first time i went back home that I was coming back again - there seems to be something here that has kept me coming back (beyond a wonderful husband!), its like i have ‘unfinished business’ here...
im impatient to see what the future will bring, and if it will once again bring us back here. but for now, i’d like to share some of the shades of this place that has been home for so long starting with that marvellous green

changes

in the last couple of weeks everything has come up to life.

there are a few things that seem to be changing in everyday life also that i've waiting for a long time and it feels a bit scary suddenly to face, maybe because for the first time they feel like they could be real... does that ever happen to you?

anyways, i'm enjoying every little single ray of light, every little peony opening in the garden after this loooong dark winter in ireland
on another note, here's a picture of the kitten (now called ''morgan'') who is also changing lots - its now nearly all white! (a lot more than in this pic taken at a few days ago)

keeping busy

well, hello there! lots have happened lately and i haven't been able to update this little space...

i'd like to introduce you a little lady has kept me both exhausted, worried and smiling in equal parts for the last few weeks - its the only survivor of a 3 kitten litter that we were asked to foster along with the mother 1 month ago (the kittens were only 1 day old at the time!). sadly, the mama didn't have enough milk and 2 little ones passed away in record time after we got them, so we had to step in and try to save this little one. she is now doing fine and we are hoping she'll keep getting stronger and stronger everyday! (i'll be posting more photos coming soon, we are really gratefull she reached 1 month today!)

esta señorita es en parte la causante de mi cansancio, preocupaciones y sonrisas (a partes iguales) durante las últimas semanas cuando recibimos una llamada para adoptar a la madre y 3 gatitos de 1 solo día.  desgraciadamente, la madre no parecía tener suficiente leche y tras perder 2 pequeñines en tiempo record, tuvimos que decidir cuidar a esta pequeña luchadora nosotros hasta que saliera adelante. tras decenas de biberones, antibióticos y noches sin dormir, parece que esta por fin estable y esperamos que siga poniéndose fuerte cada día. (más fotos pronto, gracias a Dios hoy ya ha hecho 1 mes y está enorme!)

hemos estado muy ocupados últimamente y teníamos este rincón olvidado… ha hecho mucho, mucho, muuuucho frío en dublín últimamente (hemos estado incomunicados un par de días por la nieve!) quería pasarme por aqui para desearos unas felices fiestas y, sobre todo, un Muy Feliz 2011! nos vemos en el próximo año!

otoño está ya en cada esquina de dublín, con temperaturas de un solo dígito la mayoría de las tardes y la promesa del comienzo de los cortos y fríos días irlandeses en noviembre.

viernes de otoño

como algunos ya sabéis, llevo unas semanas un poco diferente, muchos cambios, decisiones importantes y la sensación de que la cadena de malas noticias del año pasado por estas fechas se repita ha conseguido que esté algo estresada.
me he propuesto intentar volver a la ‘normalidad’ lo antes posible así que espero pasarme más a menudo por aquí en los próximos días.

os dejo con estas cabañas construidas en pleno macizo de montseny, gerona y en mi lista de lugares para parar cuando vaya a explorar esa zona

quick sunday brunch

quick sunday brunch:

eggs (number depending on the number of people)/huevos (cantidad depende del número de comensales)
slices of serrano ham/ jamón serrano

cheese / queso

precalendar el horno 200oC
en un molde de magdalenas hacer ‘nidos’ con el jamón intentando no dejar huecos. poner un huevo en cada nido y salpimentar.
poner en el horno durante 15 mins o hasta que los huevos estén al punto. añadir un poco de queso y servir inmediatamente.
perfectos acompañados de ensalada y tostadas. disfrutad!

preheat oven to 200oC
create little 'nests' for the eggs by placing some serrano ham into un-greased muffin tin.
crack a large egg in the little nests, season with fresh ground pepper. place in the oven for 15 minutes or until eggs are fully cooked. add a bit of grated cheese on top and serve immediately.
perfect with abit of salad and toasts. enjoy!

unfortunately its not only good news that this end of the summer has brought and we have had some sad news that have kept me away for a few days. i hope to come by more often in the next few days.
