bienvenidos, cambios!

hace ya unas semanas que ya no me sirve mi ropa.
los últimos 5 meses, he estado tan metida en estudios y cambios en mi rutina habitual, que ahora que miro atrás, me doy cuenta de que el embarazo ha sido algo de alguna manera 'secundario' a todo lo que estaba pasando, y ahora que por fín tengo tiempo, estoy poniédome al día con lecturas de embarazo, comenzando a elegir cosas y disfrutando al máximo de este estado, sobre todo ahora que el pequenin/a ya se mueve!

aunque, aún no he tenido mucho tiempo de buscar ropa de premamá, todo lo que he visto hasta ahora no me ha convencido mucho (tal vez porque es invierno y los básicos son más sobrios) pero estos modelos que he encontrado en internet me gustan. si hay alguna mamá lectora: teníais una tienda favorita de premamá? comprásteis por internet alguna vez? me encantaría oir vuestras opiniones...!

i still can't believe that it's been 4 months since my last post, seriously?
a lot has happened since then, some of these things have left me with no energy at all and my most creative self was sleeping somewhere inside me.  
summer was full of endless days studying, as i have taken this 'break' to qualify as a vet technician and be able to care for the animals i foster in a better way. but... apart from the anatomy and surgery lessons my summer has been full of surprises...!! :)

aún no se cómo han pasado ya 4 meses desde mi último post, de verdad??!!
desde ese último contacto, han sucedido muchísimas cosas, algunas de ellas me han dejado sin energía y mi parte más creativa se quedó dormida la mayoría del verano.
este verano ha estado repleto también de tardes estudiando, ya que decidí aprovechar este tiempo de 'reposo' en casa para hacer un curso intensivo de tec. en veterinaria y poder así cuidar mejor a los animales que acojo.   pero...a parte de todo ese estudio, mi verano ha estado también lleno de sorpresas...!! :)

...and we can't wait to meet baby! somebody asked me if this space would become a place for all baby related things and at the time i didnt' think about it, but probably in the next few weeks of planning you may see some of my findings and inspiration here that i hope you enjoy also.

i'm glad to be back - i hope you all had a good summer!!

... y nosotros estamos deseando conocer al bebé! alguien me preguntó si este pequeño espacio se iba a convertir en un blog para mamás lleno de cosas de bebés. entonces no lo pensé, pero probablemente en las próximas semanas de preparación haya posts de inspiración, etc... que espero que encontréis de algún modo interesante también. 

estoy contenta de haber vuelto por aquí  -  espero que hayáis tenido un buen verano!!

lime pie | tarta de lima

my favourite summer pie  | mi tarta favorita del verano...

ingredients for the crust \ para la base
biscuits for the base (i used 90% digestive and 10% oat biscuits) \ galletas para la base (yo he usado 90% digestivas and 10% galletas de avena), 4 tbs of unsalted butter, melted \ 4 cucharadas de mantequilla sin sal , 2 tbs of sugar \ 2 cucharadas de azúcar
Ingredients for the filling  \ para el relleno
4 large egg yolks \ 4 yemas de huevo , juice of 3 limes \ zumo de 3 limas, 1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk \ 1 lata pequena de leche condensada

crust |  base
preheat oven to 175°C. mix together biscuits, sugar, and butter in a bowl until combined well, then press mixture onto bottom of the cake mould. place it in the middle of oven 10 minutes and let it cool while you make the filling.
precalentar el horno a 175°C. mezclar bien las galletas con el azúcar y la mantequilla, y poner la mezcla en la base de un molde. hornea durante 10 min y deja enfriar mientras haces el relleno.
filling | relleno
whisk together condensed milk and yolks in a bowl , add the lime juice and whisk until combined well. pour filling into the crust and bake for about 15 minutes. let the pie cool on a rack and put in the fridge for a few hours.
mezcla la leche condensada con las yemas en un bol, añade el zumo de lima y mezcla todo bien. añade la mezcla a la base y hornear durante unos 15 minutos. deja enfriar la tarta completamente y métela en el frigorífico unas horas.
when you are ready to serve it, beat the cream in a recipient (i add a little bit of sugar to the cream as i like the contrast with the limes) \ antes de servirla montar la nata (yo añado un poco de azúcar porque creo que le va bien el contraste con la lima) y cubre la tarta con una capa generosa!

in a few weeks we will be trying new things and will be far away from this land for a while. i can’t quite believe that this moment is here and i’m quite missing this place already.
i have had a funny relationship with this island since I arrived, a very young version of me struggled understanding a whole new culture, a whole new humour and a whole new world, yet it wasn’t even 3 months after the first time i went back home that I was coming back again - there seems to be something here that has kept me coming back (beyond a wonderful husband!), its like i have ‘unfinished business’ here...
im impatient to see what the future will bring, and if it will once again bring us back here. but for now, i’d like to share some of the shades of this place that has been home for so long starting with that marvellous green

changes

in the last couple of weeks everything has come up to life.

there are a few things that seem to be changing in everyday life also that i've waiting for a long time and it feels a bit scary suddenly to face, maybe because for the first time they feel like they could be real... does that ever happen to you?

anyways, i'm enjoying every little single ray of light, every little peony opening in the garden after this loooong dark winter in ireland
on another note, here's a picture of the kitten (now called ''morgan'') who is also changing lots - its now nearly all white! (a lot more than in this pic taken at a few days ago)

keeping busy

well, hello there! lots have happened lately and i haven't been able to update this little space...

i'd like to introduce you a little lady has kept me both exhausted, worried and smiling in equal parts for the last few weeks - its the only survivor of a 3 kitten litter that we were asked to foster along with the mother 1 month ago (the kittens were only 1 day old at the time!). sadly, the mama didn't have enough milk and 2 little ones passed away in record time after we got them, so we had to step in and try to save this little one. she is now doing fine and we are hoping she'll keep getting stronger and stronger everyday! (i'll be posting more photos coming soon, we are really gratefull she reached 1 month today!)

esta señorita es en parte la causante de mi cansancio, preocupaciones y sonrisas (a partes iguales) durante las últimas semanas cuando recibimos una llamada para adoptar a la madre y 3 gatitos de 1 solo día.  desgraciadamente, la madre no parecía tener suficiente leche y tras perder 2 pequeñines en tiempo record, tuvimos que decidir cuidar a esta pequeña luchadora nosotros hasta que saliera adelante. tras decenas de biberones, antibióticos y noches sin dormir, parece que esta por fin estable y esperamos que siga poniéndose fuerte cada día. (más fotos pronto, gracias a Dios hoy ya ha hecho 1 mes y está enorme!)
